Queensland Girls’ Chess Workshop

A chess workshop and tournament for Queensland’s top girls
Sunday 29 September

Girls can register and pay for the afternoon tournament. The top 30 players who register (decided by Queensland Junior Ratings as of the date registration closes) will be invited to participate in the workshop.

The workshop will be run by Grandmaster David Smerdon and Women’s International Master Alexandra Jule.

TOURNAMENT

When: 12:30pm – 4:00pm (Arrive by 12:00pm)
Where: Fewings Building (A Block) – Somerville House Graham St Gate 7
Cost: $25
Divisions: Beginner Division for unrated players in Year 3 and Below – Open Division for all other players
Prizes: Medals for top 3 players in each division

WORKSHOP

When: 9:00am – 12:00pm (Arrive by 8:30am)
Where: Fewings Building (A Block) – Somerville House Graham St Gate 7
Cost: $35 (In addition to the entry for the tournament)
Entry: To be eligible for selection in to the workshop, register for the afternoon tournament by Sunday the 22nd of September. Those selected will be contacted on Monday the 23rd and will have until the 25th of September to confirm their attendance at the workshop by completing the payment. Those who have not completed the payment by then will have their place given to another student.

If places for the workshop can not be decided on ratings, places will be awarded based on age and performance at tournaments like the Queensland Interschool Competition
